Over time, skin loses its elasticity; this is a contributing cause of sagging skin, while in turn, creating wrinkles, lines, and creases. In order to reduce excess signs of facial aging, you may want to consider a full facelift or a mid facelift, depending on your aesthetic goals.
San Jose plastic surgeon George W. Commons, M.D., F.A.C.S. of Palo Alto Center for Plastic Surgery, who has performed plastic surgery in his areas for over 25 years, offers special facelift techniques for beautiful results.
With extensive training and experience in his field, Dr. Commons is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
What is the difference between a facelift and a mid facelift?
A full facelift (“rhytidectomy”) involves the correction of the neck, jowls, cheeks, nasolabial folds and the malar/eyelid junction areas. A reputable Bay Area facelift specialist, Dr. Commons performs this procedure on patients are unhappy with how their face has changed due to the aging process.
As compared to a full facelift, the mid facelift focuses on a triangular area from around the corners of the eyes and the corners of the mouth. This procedure provides an overall lift to the neck and lower third of the face, helping to re-establish the patient’s facial balance. Typically there is less bruising and swelling associated with a mid facelift.
