A 100% successful endeavor, when patients are well chosen, is liposuction of the beautiful female face and neck Younger patients have better skin elasticity and usually do better but many ladies in their 40s, 50s, and even 60s have excellent skin elasticity and look perfect years later. The procedure mainly removes unwanted fat under the chin and jawline but some jowl fat also can be taken and even mid cheek fat occasionally. A small incision under the chin will usually suffice and local or general anesthesia is fine. A small head dressing is placed the first night and then just a little wrap worn 8 to 12 hours a day for 5 or 7 days. The bruising is almost always very very minimal and return to work is possible in 4 or 5 days with confidentiality. This is one of the great procedures. It is simple and gives great satisfaction. Come for a consultation and we can discuss you interests.Consultation are complimentary.

Ear Doctors Performing Face-Lifts? From the New York Times.
When 59-year-old Joan decided to undergo surgery from a board-certified doctor, she thought she was doing the right thing. She didn’t realize that his certification was in otolaryngology — ear, nose and throat — not plastic surgery.
Her mistake resulted in thick scars on her temples and a wavy abdomen. She was forced to spend her savings to get a real plastic surgeon for correctional surgery.
We’re living in an age where gynecologists offer breast augmentation, ophthalmologists do liposuction, and family practice physicians give Botox injections. The result is a rise in disfigured patients.
“For a certain group to wage a turf battle and say for financial reasons that they are the only ones who can safely perform cosmetic procedures is hypocritical and grossly untrue,” said Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, the president of the rival American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, composed primarily of doctors who are not board-certified plastic surgeons. Note to prospective patients: do not undergo surgery with a doctor who claims to belong to this organization.
Only Texas, California, Louisiana and Florida mandate that doctors be specific in their advertising about which specialty board certifications they have. Elsewhere they may say just that they are “board-certified.”

The Awake Facelift
The facelift can easily be done comfortably under a local anesthetic with the patient awake. Many patients prefer this and I am perfectly okay with this “twilight anesthesia.” It is safe – even safer than general anesthesia in many ways, and recovery is ofter quicker. In the twilight anesthesia technique Valium and morphine are given IV and great comfort is possible. The doctor and patient can communicate throughout and the surgeon can ask the patient to move muscles that may help in decision making.
Is an anesthesiologist or CRNA in attendance during twilight anesthesia? Possibly but most of the plastic surgeons run the anesthesia safely themselves and save patients money without compromising safety.
Does a patient feel pain if awake? Possibly but usually there is no memory of any pain and all is well. Patients often feel safer if they can be awake throughout and I am perfectly in agreement with this method. In 2012 it is important to listen to patients and give them what they choose. The old days of doctors being dictators are over. The era of patient and physician negotiation is the rule. I like this, and so do patients.
What will Obama care offer as far as local or general is concerned. I feel Obama care will offer all of us much and good choices will be made. If you have questions about surgery or anesthesia please call and I will discuss in detail all with you.
When I have my facelift I want to be awake for many reasons. I have done and continue to do many facelift under local anesthesia. Local anesthesia is a wonderful approach. Make you doctor listen to you. If you desire an awake facelift, demand it.
Can 9 hour facelifts be done under local? Of course they can. Go for a facelift awake. You will be happy you did. Call or email me about anything. I charge $150.00 for a consultation regarding these procedures, but 100% of this can be applied to your surgery, Botox or other treatment.
